When buying snow jackets, parents should look for elastic or
ribbing on the wrists to make sure that snow is locked out. One should also buy snow jackets which are a bit
longer so even if your kid moves or leans he is still going to be well protected. Strings on hoods are also
something that should be avoided because they are hazardous. Snow pants should also be subjected in the same
scrutiny. More active kids are best in two piece garments because it’s more practical especially when they
want to go to the bathroom. It also gives them more room to move and won’t feel
constricted.

Parents love to dress up their children as Mini-Me. I’m not talking
about the character in Austin Powers. I meant we love to dress our kids as younger versions of ourselves.
Many shops now cater to this penchant of mothers and fathers. Most parents still have trouble dressing up
their kids for winter. You have to take note that kids have different needs than us and they might need extra
care even when dressing up. Babies however can be dressed in snow suits which are one piece garments that
will allow you to dress your baby easier. You can also find a snow suit which has accessories attached to it
like hoods, booties, and mittens. We prefer that you choose a snow suit with full length zipper because for
ease on removing and putting it on.
First Layer
It should be made of material that will prevent moisture from
collecting in your clothes. Moisture wicking clothes made out of polyester or microfiber are highly
recommended. Avoid using cotton outdoors because it absorbs dampness and if sweat collects on your kid’s
clothes they might get sick.
Middle Layer
We highly recommend the use of materials which are made of polyester
fleece because it is soft, stretchy, lightweight, and not itchy. This material traps or retains warm air
inside your child’s clothing providing better insulation.
Protective Layer
The final layer of clothing which are usually snow jackets or snow pants are
recommended to be made of microfiber materials using polyester microfilament and other materials which makes
them waterproof, windproof and still breathable.
Feet
Make sure that you will purchase snow boots which are waterproof and made for slosh. They must be skid
proof to prevent your child from sliding. You should also buy snow boots which is a size bigger or will give
your kid’s feet room and not make it feel constricted and still not big so it won’t be too loose that will
make it slide off or make it feel uncomfortable because it’s too bulky and big for them. So the fit should be
very important too.
Head and Hands
Snow hats or beanies should be
waterproof and should cover their ears. Mittens are preferred over snow gloves but more active kids will
prefer the latter because it provides better grip and more movement. Just make sure that they are waterproof
and with long cuffs or elastic wrists to prevent snow from coming in. Make sure you have several of this with
your child when he goes out of the house.
We hope we’ve helped you learn more about how to dress your toddler.
We wish you luck as you shop for the best winter wear for your child!
